Hugh Smith joined HTANALYSTS as a Consultant in 2025. He contributes to projects in health economic modelling and market access, supporting health technology assessment submissions and related strategic initiatives. 

Hugh joined HTANALYSTS as a Consultant in October 2025. He holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Melbourne, where he specialised in health economics and economic evaluation.

Before joining HTANALYSTS, Hugh worked at Austin Health on public health and system improvement initiatives. He evaluated the cost-effectiveness of artificial intelligence tools used in patient interviewing and led projects focused on service efficiency. He also designed outbreak management processes for high-risk populations across the hospital catchment.

Hugh’s background in health economics and systems analysis underpins his evidence-based approach to assessing healthcare technologies, economic value and health outcomes.
