Hugh Smith joined HTANALYSTS as a Consultant in 2025. He contributes to projects in health economic modelling and market access, supporting health technology assessment submissions and related strategic initiatives. 

Hugh joined HTANALYSTS as a Consultant in October 2025. He holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) from the University of Melbourne, where he specialised in health economics and economic evaluation. 

Prior to joining HTANALYSTS, Hugh worked at Austin Health, contributing to public health projects and system improvement initiatives. His work included evaluating the cost-effectiveness of various artificial intelligence tools in patient interviewing, leading system efficiency projects, and designing outbreak management processes for high-risk populations across the hospital’s catchment. His background in health economics and systems analysis underpins an evidence-based approach to assessing healthcare technologies and outcomes.
